Trace Snow - Ski + Snowboard Tracker App Reviews

Ive used this app for a few years and loved it but cant get it to work at all this ski season and its driving me crazy! Ive contacted them a few times and still no response. My acct is still active if I log in online but nothing allows me to access my acct thru the app. So frustrating!!!!!!

This app used to be so on point, but it gets worse every year. The accuracy is constantly degrading and sometimes it either doesnt log data at all, or it just loses it during an upload. If you dont believe me, just compare the reviews from a few years go versus the more recent ones. I have to assume the majority of hear issues are because their business model has shifted to try and get people to buy their device. Im looking for other apps now.

Nice app simple to use. Gives you great information. It doesnt drain your battery too bad.

Only used a few times - but great stats and easy to use

The app is easy to use, mostly simple, and provides solid tracks even with just a smartphone... Unfortunately it: 1) Requires Internet to save trails. 2) Will LOSE trails if Internet is not found. Having had this occur already, I even waited until I got back to town to submit and yet bam, none of the evening trails I did are there. Until the reliance on Internet, or a proper "save until online" system is implemented for sessions, Im not comfortable using this app: hence 1 star. Would happily upgrade to 5 star and buy a Trace if fixed.

On my iPhone 5C last year app worked great, but this year on iPhone 6 app suddenly stop working, for example if I move from tab to tab. Please fix this bug. Thank you

This app is truly one of my favorites to monitor my snowboarding. My only problem with it is the requirement to have location services on 24/7.

This app just constantly gets worse and they are removing great features. On top of that, their customer service is pretty awful when you email to inquire for support. Youll get a 5 word response like "we dont do that anymore" when you ask to change the email address on your account. Dont support them.

Makes no sense why the app would need location services on always in the background. Please fix this. I have to activate and deactivate whenever I use the app which really ruins the experience.

Review after 1yr - I have two friends I should be linked to on Trace. One has me listed in his profile but he is not listed as linked on my profile. The other friend is linked just fine. Ive been using this for a few months and I havent seen an update to fix this. Locations services should not need to be running all the time while the app is closed. Were on iOS9 now where "on using the app" has been available for several os revisions. Shoddy. Deleted.

This app was great for several years - good tracking, comprehensive data, website integration to review the day. The best out there IMO (I tried a few). But the focus has moved from the app to the "wearable" Trace device. It doesnt bode well for future app improvements when the company pitches the wearable by saying the phone (app) makes you look drunk. Company must not be convinced it can get good tracking with a phone any more (even though it was very good). For surfing a separate device makes sense, but not needed for skiing (especially if you rent skis).

Last season I downloaded this app and used it to trace every day I skied. Aside from the personal statistics it gave you, one of the coolest parts of the app was that it gave you the daily leaderboards for each stat at the mountain you skied. Now they do a running seasonal total leaderboard which is almost useless unless youre going to ski the same mountain the whole season. Beyond that the interface has become much less intuitive and clumsy. Not sure why youd put out an update that makes your app worse but thats what happened here. -Thanks for one good season.

So I downloaded 3 apps for tracking. This was was the best so far. Its cool cause you can press start and leave it running on all day and it keeps track of when your on lifts so it doesnt include lift speed on your average speed. It tells you your max and average of every run. And tells you a bunch of other cool stuff like calories burned. Number of jumps. Air time. Altitude. And miles. Defiantly give it a try. Its a free download

It asked me if I wanted to link to Facebook after logging data. I clicked NO. It opened Facebook anyway through safari. Returned to app to find recorded data lost. Frustrating/irritating. Deleted.

Great app. Super easy to use.

While I love the idea of this app. I have to say the quality has gone downhill. The app now hangs frequently and after killing the app, it has to be restarted in order for it to even attempt to upload my statistics. Poor upload performance and hangs in general makes me worry that the statistics gathered are in error. Fix the hangs please. Looking like the developers dont care about quality. Hangs hangs hangs. Mostly useless. Good bye you beaters. I have had it with your inaccurate application. You record my first up hill travel as a run, by the time I am up 10% up the first chair, you suggest I have done 9 runs and 9.9k of vertical. Then you short change my downhill speed. Within the pat three days my slope time went from over 2,000 minutes to just 1.0 minute. It appears that you have a serious error in your calculations. Poor application. Poor customer support. Those who have great things to say about this must work for the company. I am done with the inaccurate figures and crappy support.

When it was Alpine Relay. Now it crashes always, rarely makes it longer than 3-4 runs

If you have airtime in your version, dont update it

Ski Snow Summit in Big Bear, CA. This app definitively logs all speeds and runs. Never missed a beat. My wife took a video of me skiing with her phone while I slalomed down a slope. The video synchronized with me data and posted on my run stats page. Cool.
